As we predicted, due to the overwhelming need, we will keep this campaign open until the forseable future

Our community needs us. After recent ICE raids and immigration legislature changes, many families have lost their critical income and are facing immediate housing insecurity. Stable housing is the foundation for everything—school, work, medical care, and legal follow-ups.
We are raising $5,000 by  October 16th to cover this month’s rent and fees so at least TWO families can remain housed while they rebuild their income. We BELIEVE in the power of this community which is why we're taking the leap of faith in hosting our own rental assistance effort. It is important that note that a number of our Fuego Latino community members are actively volunteering in their local regions to provide humanitarian aid support to people who are at risk and urgently in need of assistance. We will be releasing funds as they come in as we want to prevent evictions. 

How funds will be used (in order of priority):

1. Rent and any late fees

2. Legal fees to support family members/loved ones detained by ICE

3. Utilities (electricity, gas, water if applicable)

4. Cash stipend for basic necessities

For safety, the family’s names are private; our organizers will find the safest way to verify payment and post redacted receipts/confirmation so donors can see impact without risking the family’s privacy. If we exceed the goal, remaining funds will support next month’s housing and basic needs or could extend to an additional family in need.

Nuestra comunidad nos necesita. Después de las recientes redadas de ICE y cambios en la legislación migratoria, muchxs hogares han perdido ingresos fundamentales y enfrentan inseguridad de vivienda inmediata. Un hogar estable es la base de todo: escuela, trabajo, atención médica y seguimientos legales.

Estamos recaudando $5,000 antes del 16 de octubre para cubrir la renta de este mes y los cargos y así garantizar que al menos DOS familias puedan mantenerse en su hogar mientras reconstruyen sus ingresos. CREEMOS en el poder de esta comunidad; por eso damos este salto de fe al organizar nuestro propio esfuerzo de apoyo a la renta. Es importante señalar que varixs miembrxs de la comunidad de Fuego Latino están voluntariando activamente en sus regiones para brindar ayuda humanitaria a personas en riesgo y con necesidad urgente de asistencia. Iremos liberando fondos conforme entren, porque queremos prevenir desalojos.

Cómo se usarán los fondos (en orden de prioridad):

• Renta y cualquier cargo por atraso

• Honorarios legales para apoyar a miembrxs de la familia/personas queridas detenidxs por ICE

• Servicios (electricidad, gas, agua, según aplique)

• Apoyo en efectivo para necesidades básicas

Por seguridad, los nombres de las familias permanecerán en privado; nuestrxs organizadorxs buscarán la forma más segura de verificar los pagos y publicar comprobantes/confirmaciones con datos redactados para que lxs donantes puedan ver el impacto sin poner en riesgo la privacidad de las familias. Si superamos la meta, los fondos restantes apoyarán la vivienda y necesidades básicas del próximo mes o podrían extenderse a una familia adicional en necesidad.
