October 15, 2022 Update: Asbestos removal has been completed in the Hondo and temple office. All Temple buildings, including the parsonage, were tented for termites. The Hondo was re-opened for services beginning with Obon Service on July 10. Restoration work of the temple office and annex flooring continues. Total funds raised, including online GiveButter donations ($4K) was about $60K as of Sept 30. To see photos of the work in progress, visit our website: PasadenaBuddhistTemple.org
After the initial asbestos removal and termite tenting, the Temple has begun work resulting from asbestos removal and termite damage. Repairs were made to lighting and ceiling in the Hondo. Flooring, wall repair, ceiling and lighting repairs and replacement were made in the Temple office. The office re-opened in September. Flooring in the Annex, to cover the original linoleum, has also been completed. Thank you to the SOGs and guidance of Board member, Johnny Kamon, we have saved thousands of dollars in expenses. The work continues as more damage is being discovered. If you can set-up a one time or recurring donation to help us with these additional expenses, we would appreciate all you can give.
