DRIVE THEIR FUTURE FORWARD- Van Fundraiser

What Happens When Foster Youth Turn 18?

When foster youth turn 18, they often feel ready to take control of their lives and leave foster care. Some get help from a caseworker to move into an apartment, but only those who make good choices succeed in staying there. Others struggle to find housing, often ending up couch-surfing, at a homeless shelter, or even returning to unsafe homes.

Moab House Provides a Better Option

Moab House changes this. When young adults choose Moab House, they get three years of support, including free transportation to work and school, as well as basic needs like food, hygiene products, and linens—all provided so they can save the money they earn. We help them make decisions that shape their futures, providing love, encouragement, and sometimes tough truths to guide them.

Transportation Challenges

One major barrier for former foster youth is transportation. Many can't drive because they weren't allowed to get a permit or car while in foster care. Though there was a federal bill to help foster youth get driver's licenses, it has been paused since March 2023. Without a car or public transportation skills, getting to work or school becomes impossible to them.

Our Solution: A New Van

Moab House is raising funds to buy a 12-seat transit van. With a full house of eight young adults and three in our house parent family, we need this van to keep up with the daily trips—ranging from 4 to 36 trips a day as we grow. Plus, it’ll be more fun to take everyone together on outings and to church!

Help us support former foster youth by contributing to our van fundraiser. Thank you for your generosity!
