Dear Potential Donor,

I am George Vranau, and I am the General Manager of the Ventura County Collegiate Summer Club, better known as the Ventura County Pirates Baseball Teams. At Ventura County Pirates, we seek to help student-athletes by moving them on to the next level of baseball through educational opportunities. Ventura County, since its establishment in 2011, has placed 47 players, at Division I colleges/universities, that came out of their spring season without a school offer. Examples include Josh Howitt at CSU Fullerton and Kyle Soberano at Illinois State University. Additionally, we have placed another 50+ players at all levels of college baseball. Ventura County Pirates had 22 former players open the 2023 College Baseball season on Division I schools rosters. Additionally, 12 former Pirates players have either been drafted or signed free-agent contracts with Major League Baseball teams, like Shea Barry, who was not only helped with being recruited on a partial scholarship to UC Santa Barbara but then was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 22nd Round of the 2019 draft. And Icezak Flemming, who was helped
in being recruited by CSU Los Angeles and then drafted by the New York Yankees in the 26th Round of the 2015 Draft.

While we have made some great strides; however, the Ventura County Pirates still have a lot to accomplish. We need your support to help with three major needs this summer. First, we have a road trip planned to take the Pirates to Wisconsin to play all 6 teams of the Dairyland
Collegiate League to have our players seen and recruited by college coaches in the Midwest. Our players would not be seen by many of these schools because many of these smaller colleges and universities have smaller recruiting and travel budgets and can’t get out to California to see and recruit our players. Second, we want to be able to provide full to partial team fee scholarships to players, and their families, that are financially challenged and would not have the opportunity to play for the Ventura County organization otherwise. And our third need funds to be able to provide a Certified Athletic Trainer at all home games at Los Angeles Valley College to ensure proper
attention to the physical health needs of our players.

The Ventura County Pirates Baseball Club is a summer collegiate wood bat baseball club. We are a 501(c)3 educational charitable non-profit organization. Our goal is to assist graduating high school seniors and current collegiate baseball players advance and furthering their education through athletics, baseball specifically. VC Pirates strives to not only improve college baseball players’ abilities on the baseball diamond but to also develop leaders off the field through our baseball job opportunities and internships.

The Ventura County Pirates are embarking on an ambitious road trip, to play all 6 teams of the Dairyland Collegiate League in Wisconsin, as part of the 2023 Summer Schedule. This is part of our ongoing effort to provide the collegiate players who play for the Pirates each summer with the best possible competition as they continue to develop their baseball skills. Our players spend many long hours preparing to be the best they can be and are very deserving of your support. With your help, we can continue to provide these opportunities to assist our players on their baseball journey!

This trip provides opportunities for our players who do not have a 4-year school commitment for the Fall of 2023 to be seen by college coaches of schools in these locations, who are looking to complete their 2023-2024 school year recruiting class.

Fundraising is vital to the success of our program and this trip is very costly and beyond the normal operating budget of our summer program. Each participant has a monetary goal, please consider donating and sharing via email, text, and social media so that they may reach it. Your donation is greatly appreciated, and you will receive a tax-deductible receipt. Donations will be used toward the costs of these two trips – airfare, ground transportation, hotels, meals, and miscellaneous game day incidentals.
