Về Quê Nhà: Coming Home
Saturday, May 6th, 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM PDT
In Person
A first-of-its-kind event focused on Vietnamese creatives in visual art, music, food and beverage, and culture. Brought to you by the Vietnamese Creatives Collective, Hot Noize, and Little Saigon Official.
Story
Legend has it that the Vietnamese people are descendents of the dragon lord Lạc Long Quân and mountain fairy Âu Cơ. However, after their 100 children were born, Lạc Long Quân and Âu Cơ missed their homes and decided to divide their children. Lạc Long Quân took 50 of his children to live along the coast and Âu Cơ took the remaining 50 to live in the mountains, separated across vast distances, just like the Vietnamese diaspora today.
Về Quê Nhà: Coming Home is a celebration of Vietnamese identity, culture, and heritage in the heart of Little Saigon, Orange County, the largest concentration of Vietnamese outside Vietnam itself. A collaboration between the Vietnamese Creatives Collective, HOT NOIZE, and Little Saigon Official, this event will feature the largest group exhibition in North American history of illustrators and fine artists from the worldwide Vietnamese diaspora, a variety of live music and dance performances from local Vietnamese entertainers, and a night market full of specialty Asian food vendors. There will also be complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as special product samples available to all guests thanks to our generous sponsors. Free parking is available on the mall premises.
Whether you are coming from far away or returning to a place you have long forgotten, physically or symbolically, we open our arms to the children of Lạc Long Quân and Âu Cơ, as well as others who are coming to Little Saigon to discover our unique culture. Welcome home!
