Never Forget is Now. For my mitzvah project I worked with Federation/MetroWest's "Twinning Project". They paired me with a Holocaust survivor, Fran Malkin. Over the last month or so, I met "virtually' with Fran to learn her story so that I can share it with others. This is the first part of my mitzvah. I will share her story this way her story gets told and others can learn about the Holocaust and what people did to survive. I never realized how meaningful this experience would be. My mitzvah is to learn her story and retell it so that no one can forget. Her story should live on.
Fran "Faye" Malkin was two years old when the Holocaust started and moved to a ghetto in Poland and then was hidden in a hayloft above a pigsty in the home of a Polish woman. She and 13 others hid there for for 2 years. She survived thanks to the bravery and strength of Mrs. Halamayojowa and her daughter.
I am raising money to help fund Holocaust education. The foundation will fund grants to have speakers, materials and programs for schools and enhance the Holocaust curriculum. Please help support this cause in honor of Fran Malkin who has inspired me to promote Holocaust education. In the fall I will walk 15 miles in honor of Fran and in memory of Mark Schonwetter's 15 mile walk. I hope you'll join me in the fall.
Thank you for your support,
Jacob
