In April 2021, Elevated Communities was founded with a simple but powerful goal: to walk alongside individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they navigate systems that are often confusing, overwhelming, and difficult to access alone.

What started as one-on-one guidance and advocacy quickly grew into something more. We listened—to families, to participants, to the community—and we learned that true support means more than referrals. It means creating real opportunities to build confidence, independence, and connection.

In November 2022, we opened the Elevated Communities Gently Used Clothing Boutique, a space designed not just to serve customers, but to serve people. Here, participants gain hands-on job skills, mentorship, and real-world work experience in a safe, supportive environment. Every shift is a chance to learn, grow, and feel proud of meaningful work.

As our mission continued to evolve, so did our vision. We opened the Elevated Communities Cat Café—a welcoming, inclusive space where community connection meets purpose. The café provides additional job training opportunities while creating a calm, joyful environment that brings people together. For many, it’s a first step into the workforce. For others, it’s a place to feel seen, valued, and included.

Today, our programs work together to support the whole person—helping individuals identify and access vital services, develop employment skills, and build confidence in their abilities. Every interaction, every shift, every moment of guidance helps someone move closer to independence.

But we can’t do this alone.
