Virginians for Change is a grassroots organization dedicated to the education, empowerment and advocacy against gun violence. Founded in 2023, Virginians for Change makes activism approachable and concrete so that there is no longer the question of "what can I do to solve this problem" after children fall victim to gun violence.

Our organization has made enormous strides in the three short years of our existence. Just in the last year, Virginians for Change has:

Drafted Legislation: Played a direct role in drafting the Lethal Means Awareness bill, requiring school boards to notify parents about the vital importance of safe firearms storage
Mobilized Thousands of Voices: Continuously launch rapid-response campaigns, making it easy for citizens to advocate for gun violence prevention efforts - whether that is contacting schools in their area, reaching out to their legislators, or contacting the House Committee for Public Safety and the Senate Courts of Justice to advocate for crucial GVP (Gun Violence Prevention) legislation.
Partnered with Organizations Across the State and Nation: We've joined forces with national and state-wide organizations that are established in the gun violence prevention space to expand our network of resources, and to tap into communities that care about safety.
Supported Life-Saving Bills: We have successfully rallied support for critical bills, including Safe Child Access Prevention, Ghost Gun Bans, Expanding ERPO (Red Flag) Petitioners, and prohibiting weapons in hospitals.

With your support, we can further our mission in 2027, with a focus on:

Expanding our reach across Virginia so that we can reach every corner of the state.
Increasing our volunteer team so we can have more people on the ground, advocating for gun violence prevention.
Establishing a continuous presence at the state's General Assembly, ensuring that gun violence prevention is pushed for in every relevant committee meeting.
Developing and building deep, bipartisan relationships with legislators throughout the year.
Formalizing partnerships with PTA, schools and other organizations state-wide, ensure that parents and administrators are aware of secure storage laws in Virginia
Produce larger educational events in key regions across the state to motivate others to advocate for gun violence prevention in their daily lives

Thank you.
