Before heading into Andrews Park, you will meet at the VFW Memorial Hall 549 Main St. Vacaville to greet chili contestants, give them their supplies, explain the process and give them directions and a map to their spot to set up at the park.

During this shift, you will assist Sandy Bishop and Laura Prien in putting on the table cloths, setting up the merchandise and selling:

Merchandise

This job should be fun and the selfie booth should run itself once we get it set up.

This volunteer will be on hand to help Noelle with the vendor booths.

Hang out with chili cook-off contestants, ensuring they have what they need.  Work with Steve on how to get hot water in the hand washing stations.  Keep the area clean of trash.  Answer questions as the arise.  Make it fun!  

Sound the alarm bells if chili is running out and we are still selling tickets!!!!  We don't want to sell tickets if there's no more chili. 

Duties:

1.  Bring a bucket to each vendor who is accepting Buffalo Bucks (it says who on the back of the bucks)
2. If we are running low, empty the bucks from the vendors (NOT MAIN GRAPE, BETTYS BBQ OR CREEKSIDE ICE CREAM AS WE NEED TO PAY THEM FOR EACH BUCK)
3. At the end of the day, determine how much we owe to:
   1. Main Grape
   2. Betty's BBQ
   3. Creekside Ice Cream
4. Get cash or a check from the registration booth and pay each vendor.

Sweet Peas is donating 250 pumpkins and all supplies.  Please help kids paint pumpkins.  Also, collect a Buffalo Buck for each kid.  If they just want to take a pumpkin and not paint, that's okay but it is still $5 or 1 Buffalo Buck

Blow the whistle to let everyone know CONTEST  is about to start

Cut pieces of pie on plates

Put table cloths on 2 6 foot tables

Hand out bibs

Tie hands loosely behind backs of contestants WITH WESTERN BANDANAS

determine if just kids should do this or if kids + adults is okay.  I don't know, you'll have to use your best judgment.

Do a countdown to begin.....3.....2.....1.....EAT!!!!

Blow whistle and give 2-3 minutes (use a stop watch on your phone or watch)

Give the winner a silver dollar

Provide wipes to clean face

Lather, rinse and repeat this process throughout the day until the pie is gone!

You will check in on the bridge at Andrews Park for supplies at 1:30PM.

You will greet judges as they arrive at the outdoor seating section in front of Makse restaurant, ensuring the area is clean and set up with the judge supplies that include:

Spoons

Napkins

Tray to deliver chili to/from contestants

You will collect ballot boxes from each chili contestant.  Keys will be given to you on the bridge at Andrews Park.  You will enter the outdoor seating area in front of Makse restaurant and tabuloate  the winner of the People's Choice Award.  Keep it confidential and let Lisa know who is the winner. Put all of the ballot boxes and keys in Lisa's car.  Support judges and chili runners if needed.

Work with Steve to put hand washing stations and grey water tanks in Steve's truck. NOTE: We can't dump grey water on site.  Help chili competitors break down and clean up area.

The festival ends at 4PM but the reception on the bridge starts at 5PM.  Help transition by moving chairs and tables and putting table cloths on the 4 foot tables on the bridge.  Meet Liza's Party Rentals and make sure they deliver 12 cocktail tables and table cloths to the bridge. Put OSV flyers and brochures on all tables.

Enjoy the ceremony, drinks and food. Stay to clean up and break down tables, chairs.  Meet Liza's Party Rentals to make sure 12 cocktail tables are picked up and removed from bridge.  Make sure garbage is taken care of.
