We are Union MADE (Mass Action and Democratic Empowerment), a statewide slate of candidates running in the Spring 2023 vacancy elections for UAW 2865 & 5810. We are Academic Student Employees, Student Researchers, Postdocs, and Academic Researchers who believe in the power of a democratic, inclusive, and worker-led union. We are running together to continue building a cross-local, mass-participation labor movement at the University of California to democratize our workplace and society.

Our campaign is of, by, and for UAW members at UC. We are seeking donations from fellow UAW members at the University of California to realize our vision for mass worker power that can transform our working conditions. Contributions will go towards materials such as posters, flyers, and buttons.

To build our power as organized workers, we are committed to:

Bringing our two UAW locals together as ONE union of 48,000 postdocs, academic student employees, student researchers, and academic researchers at UC
Building supermajority Student Researcher, Postdoc, and Academic Researcher membership.
Making bargaining more inclusive and participatory
Pushing for a progressive policy agenda for working people at the local, state, and national level
Leading an aggressive contract enforcement program to ensure UC meets its end of the bargain and no worker is left behind
Supporting reform efforts in the broader UAW by pushing for new organizing, participatory bargaining, and rank-and-file leadership in our union
