Once upon a time ...

... there was a magical gathering place in one of the most unique marine environments on the planet. It was a space for laughter, community, and education.

But the facility has fallen into disrepair. Neglected and subjected to the elements, it is in need of a dedicated group to take over and a new mission.

I'm helping Onward Industries take up the call!

Onward is a local nonprofit I'm involved with. Its focus is building community outdoors. Onward offers low cost immersive education and transformative events and overnights for all ages. Once reopened, the iconic Ballast Point facility in Cat Harbor on Catalina will be a home for marine education, art, community engagement, and outdoors recreation opportunities for deserving kids and grownups.

The mission of this project, which is called Onward Oceans, is crystal clear—to create a haven where adults and children connect with nature and cultivate a deep appreciation for our marine environment. Beyond education, the vision extends to ecological and cultural impact through incredible events for So Cal locals.

Onward is a local volunteer-run nonprofit with strong partnerships in the boating community; with nonprofit orgs & educational institutions; and with marine & blue economy enterprises and local businesses.

But we need your help!

I'm volunteering during an upcoming work weekend to help bring this project to life. Will you sponsor my trip with a donation in any amount?

Work weekends put passionate volunteers like me on the front lines of repairing this facility for awesome nonprofit programming. Onward brings us out, puts us up, and guides us in a safe and instructive way during these awesome weekends of shared purpose. All of that costs money, and working on a remote island is difficult. Your donation goes directly to supporting my volunteer work -- things like food, fuel for transportation and hauling supplies, building materials like lumber, and tools and equipment.

Our break even goal to support our 2024 volunteer work weekends is $10,000. Please help us get there!
