A Call to Action: The Impending "COVID-Cliff"

For over a century, Kwong Kow Chinese School has been a beacon of hope and heritage in the heart of Boston. Our mission is to preserve Chinese culture, empower our students, and strengthen our community. We strive to provide a nurturing environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive.

As we look to the future, we face a critical challenge. The anticipated end of COVID-related childcare funding in June 2025 threatens to curtail our vital programs and services. The dramatic gap in funding will equate to a staggering 30% drop in enrollment across all of our programs. We need your support to sustain our programming for the hundreds of families we serve — 94% of whom fall below state median income levels.

A Year of Growth and Impact

The past year has been one of remarkable growth and impact, welcoming more than 500 children and youth. Our dedicated teachers and staff provided more than 1,500 hours of direct programming, fostering a love of learning and a deep appreciation for Chinese culture through our academic enrichment and cultural education.

Our students have excelled in various fields, directly benefitting from our daily standards-aligned academic support and our deep investments in cutting-edge STEAM technologies, resources, programs, and activities. Our Chinese culture activities have flourished as well, with students and youth attending more than two dozen community events and performances, sharing their talents and enriching their community as young cultural ambassadors.
