Join us as we Burst Into Books! We strive to rebuild our village through advocacy, arts, educational and family programming.

Burst Into Books was born in 2018 after Jurema Gorham found no reading program for her seven-year-old in her neighborhood. This visionary mother and teacher soon created her own solution. At Burst Into Books, Jurema and her educator friends work to serve the community with more educational resources and provide families with the support they wish they had.

Since then, we have 20,000+ children deepening their love of reading and 15,000+ books distributed to inspire the city's future leaders. And we are not stopping.

Rooted in the South Side of Chicago, we are now expanding a new building in Roseland. With this diverse bookstore and community garden, we will transform the land through cultural literacy.

Burst Into Books aims to raise $10,000 during the entire Black Philanthropy Month. Your donations will help us continue our services for children and families and beautify Roseland's newly built book club, a safe space for young readers to express themselves, explore dialogues, and have fun.
