Keeping Early Learning Strong in Chelan & Douglas Counties
CDCSA Needs Community Support to Stay Open in December

Chelan-Douglas Child Services Association (CDCSA) has served children and families across Chelan and Douglas counties for over 50 years, providing early learning, nutritious meals, and family support through our Head Start, Early
Head Start, and ECEAP programs.

Head Start and ECEAP are state and federally funded programs that provide comprehensive early learning, health services, and family support for children from low-income households, helping them enter kindergarten healthy,
supported, and ready to learn.

Due to the recent government shutdown, the release of our annual federal grant award has been delayed.

December Goal

Although the federal shutdown has ended, the federal processing and approval steps needed to access our funds are still pending, leaving us temporarily without access to the funds that support nearly half of our program.

CDCSA is committed to continuing services for as long as possible while we await the completion of the federal funding process. We have internally been able to temporarily use reserve funding to cover operating expenses for the month of November. Those reserves have now been fully utilized.

To operate the six classrooms at risk of temporary closure we need approximately $20,000 per week, and we are aiming to
cover three weeks of December services, for a total of:

$60,000 needed to sustain services for all children and families through December.

• Daily meals and snacks
• Learning experiences that support early development
• Stability and support for local families
