Haiti Party Christmas Wish

I received a surprising request from Sister Mireille in Haiti - she asked for support to have a Christmas celebration for the women in their Healher program. When I read her simple dream to have a Christmas fellowship to include simple food, dessert, decorations, a small gift for all the attendees, and a sacred time of bonding, I knew I had to help make it happen for her and the community of the Cap Haitian Church.

As a child growing up in Haiti, I remember Christmas being an anticipated time for celebration. The poor and rich all joined in the celebration that began on Christmas eve for our traditional “reveyon”. As an adult, I still carry the “reveyon” tradition for our family.

I’m often asked how people in countries like Haiti survive. Reveyon is how they survive. The women of Haiti know if they don’t create room for joy and celebration, they will not make it. This is exactly what Sister Mireille desires most for Christmas support for reveyon. I believe simple requests like this should be honored and celebrated. Especially for women in this community in Au Cap, Haiti. They have overcome so much. Will you help me make their Christmas wish come true?
