The CCHS field hockey program has had an incredible last two years. After losing in back to back state finals in 2019 and 2021, we were able to win the state championship in 2022 and 2023. In addition, we were ranked #1 in the country in 2022. Last year the goal was to do something that field hockey had never done - win back to back titles. This year, we will attempt to win 3 in a row. It will not be easy as we graduated many players who are going on to play D1 hockey at Rutgers and Temple. Other graduating players are playing D3. We have a great group of returning players plus some talented incoming freshmen.
The success of the program is not just about winning. We had a 2023 graduate play in the D1 National Championship game. We had a 2023 graduate in the Big 10 ACC Challenge take a stroke to win a game. We have a freshmen and junior just make the U16 and U18 National teams. They will be traveling to Belgium to play this month as they represent the US. The biggest success is when players commit to play for a school when that player had no thoughts about playing in college when they started to play as freshmen at CCHS.
It will take a lot of work win 3 in a row. No donation is too small. Your donations contribute to our success by giving us the opportunity to train and play away from CCHS.
To put us in the best position to reach that goal, the team is doing the following:
1. Pre-season trip to Virginia Beach to train on the wet turf at the US Training Center and Norfolk Academy. It is a great team bonding event as we take any player including the incoming freshmen on the trip. Having 40 girls live together in a hotel at the beach while training is a great way to start the season off as it helps us build the team. It also allows the freshmen to enter the program in a social setting. We take a coach bus to Virginia Beach so everyone spends the entire trip together.
2. Play at the MAX Field Hockey Tournament in September in Conshohocken at the Proving Grounds. This allows the team to play against nationally ranked teams from other states. Last year we played #2 and #11. Playing highly skilled teams is great preparation for the state playoff run in November.
3. Play at the North Jersey umpires training event on Labor Day Saturday against 3 highly ranked NJ teams (last year 2 state champs and 1 runner-up).
The donations have helped us succeed in the past and help us continue our success in the future by helping us to attend these events. Thank you in advance for any contributions you can make.
