Story
In the short period of three days, a young person experiencing homelessness travels an average of thirty miles by foot and/or bike. Put yourself in their shoes and see if you can complete this distance in three weeks. Your mileage goal is your choice, but we encourage you to complete at least 30 miles to truly understand what youth experiencing homelessness endure. You have the option of walking, running, cycling (or a combination of these) to accumulate your mileage beginning April 10th and ending April 30th. In addition to the mileage, we challenge you to set a fundraising goal as an individual or team. All funds raised will benefit youth in our programs and assist them in exiting homelessness and finding their path of self-sufficiency.
The PLACE is a non-profit organization founded in Colorado Springs in the year 2000 that ignites the potential in youth to exit homelessness and create self-determined, fulfilled lives. Our programs include a 20-bed shelter, drop-in center, street outreach team, and housing. In addition to this, we offer services in case management, education and employment, physical and mental healthcare, and the National Safe Place Network.
