The Wallace Centers of Iowa preserves the legacy of one of America's most consequential agricultural families and puts that legacy to work in Iowa today.

The Wallace family were not simply farmers. They were innovators, scientists, and public servants who helped shape modern American agriculture, and their ideas are still felt across Iowa and the world today. Henry A. Wallace was born at the Wallace Farm in Orient, Iowa, went on to serve as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and then Vice President under Franklin D. Roosevelt, and founded Pioneer Hi-Bred, the company that revolutionized hybrid seed corn.

Today, Wallace Centers of Iowa keeps that legacy alive at the Wallace House in Des Moines and the Wallace Farm in Orient, where we bring people together around Iowa's history and new ideas in food security and agriculture, and host tours, community events, and educational workshops.
