Standing in the Gap: Warriors for Wildlife
African People & Wildlife is facing a serious funding gap that will impact some of its most effective and community-driven programs that help Africa’s iconic species. The Warriors for Wildlife team members are trained to stand in the gap between their communities and the wildlife that can threaten livelihoods and lives. They receive stipends to be ready and able to respond to conflict, protect elephants and lions, and collect regular data that drives smarter conservation.
Eighty of these team members lost funding earlier this year. The stipend amounts are very achievable for many of us, but make a profound impact in rural Tanzania. Funding a Warrior for Wildlife for a month costs $105. If you can help provide part of a month or even a year’s worth at $1,260 or even multiple Warriors (four Warriors would be $5,040), it would mean the world to one of these communities that rely on these brave men and women.
