For many military families, the holidays are a time of togetherness but also a time of painful choices. Behind the scenes, thousands of service members, veterans, and families are quietly struggling with food insecurity. And when food becomes uncertain, it affects far more than the dinner table.
Food scarcity increases stress, shame, and anxiety. It reshapes how people eat, think about food, and feel in their bodies. And for many, especially in the military community, scarcity becomes the spark that ignites or worsens an eating disorder.
This season, SEA WAVES believes awareness must lead to action. That’s why we’ve launched the Waves of Hope & Healing Campaign, a movement shining a light on the intersection of food insecurity, eating disorders, and military readiness and taking meaningful action to support the families carrying these hidden burdens.
Your support fuels:

Proceeds benefit Feeding Military Families, a grassroots initiative delivering food and essentials to bases nationwide. According to their research, more than 22,000 active-duty families, 213,000 National Guard and Reservist families, and 1.2 million military family members rely on food assistance programs each year.
Since 2022, they’ve delivered 60 tons of food and supplies to installations including Camp Pendleton, Twentynine Palms, Los Angeles Air Force Base, Fort Irwin, and Coast Guard Base Los Angeles/Long Beach.
