9/13/2024 UPDATE: THANKS TO AMAZING PEOPLE LIKE YOU, WE HAVE ALREADY HIT THIS GOAL!!!
The remaining funding has come to us from donors who made pledges off line, so we are DEFINITELY here to 2025. While you are welcome to continue giving, please know that we are going to be just fine -- all because of allies like you!
------------
It's an unavoidable reality - we are $100,000 short of making it to 2025, when our new grants will kick in and fund the clinic. And while we have enough money to see patients until October, after that our payroll budget is gone.
That means no appointments for prenatal care for up to three months for some of our pregnant patients, including those who may be about to give birth. Those who need birth control refills may not be able to get in. No STI testing for high risk populations.
Possibly even stopping hormones for our trans patients who need their medicines subsidized.
We say health care should never be inaccessible because of a person's income or insurance status, but the reality is there is only so much we can do every month, and we are running at a significant loss this quarter. July was our first month where we lost money on our pharmacy (which usually only earns us two to three thousand dollars) because so many patients were uninsured and couldn't afford even low cost medications. Our pregnancy care and doula services get no insurance reimbursement due to the state's rules on pregnancy care in Medicaid. And we are now at the point where any grants we apply for we would not receive until sometime in 2025.
We have the money to operate next year. What we don't have at this point is the money to get through November and December, and the only place we can ask for that funding and get it in time is from you.
Our patient out of pocket cost is an average of $25 per appointment. Our clinic costs $50,000 a month to run and there is no way we will get that from our patients in just 10 weeks.
We need your help to bridge the gap and make it to our next grant check - in January, 2025. Will you help Alabamians continue to access the only provider they are able to afford?
