Dear friends,
Please join me in supporting the 3rd annual event for Women Creating Change (WCC), which I joined as board member in 2019 after being inspired by their mission of creating change through the Art, by bringing together female filmmakers and artists from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Being a MENA professional, I understand the complexities and challenges of this region. Being multicultural and multilingual, tolerance is at the very core of my identity. I saw a valuable opportunity for me to help establish WCC’s vision of using the arts to bridge the differences common to the MENA region such as cultural perception and political divisions between the nationalities represented. I also wanted to contribute to WCC’s professional development programs, community building and talent showcasing activities and events that shine a spotlight on MENA talent, which is often underrepresented and overlooked in LA.
I hope you can join “Stand Up for Her: RESILIENCE 2021” on Sunday 12/12 @ 11: 30 AM (PST). It has been over 2 years since the first Annual Benefit “Stand Up for Her” in Santa Monica, which some of you attended with me. It was an exciting, thought provoking, and tear-jerking sold-out event, which inspired performers and audience and created incredible UNITY as well as collaborations between diverse WCC members!
I am very happy and excited that this years’ event will be held at the Museum of Tolerance (MOT) as well as virtually for a global outreach. It promises more talent, inspiration, collaboration, and UNITY through ART around the very critical and timely topic of RESILIENCE! The event is the result of a collaboration between MOT and WCC, which I helped forge through my MOT role as docent and facilitator for anti-bias education.
The WCC community worked tirelessly during the pandemic to stay connected via virtual coffee meetings, masterclasses, workshops, networking, and unifying opportunities. Panels and masterclasses featured Israeli, Palestinian, Iranian, Egyptian, Lebanese, and many more nationalities from the Middle East.
Your donation will have an enormous impact on WCC’s ability to continue building bridges and reaching more MENA female artists. Supporting WCC will amplify the global message of peace, tolerance, and solidarity and pave a solid path for positive change. I hope you will join me in supporting the WCC community!
