Recent efforts to ban diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives have generated headlines across North Carolina and the nation. While the political landscape may shift, our commitment to children, truth-telling, and anti-racist education remains steadfast.

For more than a decade, we are (working to extend anti-racist education, Inc) has worked alongside children, families, and educators to create culturally affirming learning spaces that help young people understand themselves, their communities, and the world around them. Our work has never been dependent on a political trend, a government initiative, or a three-letter acronym.

Our work is rooted in systems-level change.

We help children develop the language to talk about fairness and racial justice. We provide families with tools to continue learning at home. We support educators in creating learning environments where all students can thrive. We place books in the hands of young people, cultivate critical thinking, and nurture the next generation of changemakers.

Since 2016, WE ARE has placed nearly 7,000 social justice books into the hands and homes of children through our programs. Every summer, young people participate in our we are ACTIVISTS Summer Camps.

This moment does not change our mission.
