Our story

Just Focus started the way the best things do with love. Our founder is a lifelong photographer who donated his own personally collected camera gear to get something started. Not because the conditions were perfect. Because the kids were ready.

That gear launched our first workshops. Our first mentorship sessions. And eventually, our signature gallery exhibition — Through My Lens — where students ages 10 to 18 display their original photography before their families and their community. Some of these kids have never seen their name on a wall before. That moment changes something in them.

We have been building on borrowed time and borrowed equipment for long enough. Our program has grown, our students have grown, and now it is time our tools grow with them.

For our younger students, ages 10 to 14, we are putting ten Canon EOS R100 kits in their hands: lightweight, intuitive cameras paired with wide and telephoto lenses, built for kids learning to see the world differently for the first time.

"When a student finds their angle, you get out of the way and let them work.

For our older students, ages 15 to 18, we are investing in ten Canon EOS R50 bodies: for students who have already fallen in love with photography and are ready to take it somewhere. They have earned a serious tool.

"These two are not playing around. They are learning every button, every setting, every possibility."

Both cameras share the same RF-S lens mount, so gear moves between kits and nothing goes to waste. Every dollar raised goes directly to cameras, accessories, memory cards, and protective gear that will serve Just Focus students for years to come.
