Wendy Michelle Kessell, CEO of CFO Restart, a mother of three young women, and a new grandma, is turning personal experience into purpose.

Despite growth in labor and delivery services at Frederick Health Hospital, postpartum resources, like in many hospitals, have not expanded in equal measure. Recognizing this gap, Wendy saw the need for meaningful change to better support mothers in her community.

In January, Wendy launched a campaign through the 2026 Ms. Health & Fitness Competition with the goal of winning the cover feature and donating the $20,000 grand prize to Sophia Ann Charity. With the support of her community, she also helped raise over $40,000 for the Andrew McDonough Children’s Cancer Foundation. She rose above more than 11,000 contestants to reach the final eight.

While she may not take the top title, Wendy remains steadfast in her mission and is committed to reaching her $20,000 fundraising goal for Sophia Ann Charity through private contributions, continuing to turn passion into impact.
