The Oconee Cultivation Project (OCP) is excited to announce a brand-new initiative: a Mushroom Cultivation Area at the Westminster Garden! This creative and sustainable project will bring our community together to learn, grow, and connect through the art of mushroom cultivation. But we need your help to make it a reality!

Our Vision for 2025

As we kick off a new year, our goal is to inspire the community to reimagine what a public garden space can be! We believe a community garden is more than a place to grow food—it’s a space to nurture relationships and foster connections within the community.

The community garden is one of the few spaces in our community that depends on everyone’s input and ideas. It’s a place where you can have an immediate impact on a public space in your community. Help us this winter as we begin to add a new and unique space to the garden.

About the Mushroom Cultivation Area

As a first step toward re-envisioning the community garden, we will be working in the coming weeks to start developing a mushroom cultivation area for research, learning, and food. This innovative space will:

Bring new creativity and learning opportunities to the garden.

Provide a shady retreat from the summer heat.

Serve as a hub for hands-on workshops and community engagement.

This project will not only enhance the Westminster Garden but also inspire creativity, foster collaboration, and promote sustainable living.

How You Can Help

We’re launching a fundraiser to make this vision a reality! Your support will help cover essential costs like:

Mushroom spawn and growing materials (e.g., logs, straw, and tools).

Construction of the entryway into the Mushroom Garden

Workshops and Community Events
