When Rescue Can’t Wait: Help Cover an Emergency Vet Bill
Last night, four of the girls from our rescue hit the road right after work in the middle of a blizzard. What normally takes a couple of hours turned into almost four and a half hours just to get from Sioux Falls to Pierre.
They woke up bright and early this morning and continued the drive to Wakpá Wasté Animal Shelter in Eagle Butte on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation for our surrender event and community outreach.
Shortly after arriving, we learned about a dog that had come in yesterday after losing a battle with a porcupine. Waiting until tomorrow when we head back to Sioux Falls wasn’t an option. This dog was in pain, and those quills needed to come out.
So we had the dog transported to a local vet right away to be sedated and have the quills safely removed.
As you can imagine, this trip has already come with a lot of expenses — gas, hotels, supplies, and now unexpected veterinary care.
💔 This is where we need your help.
If you are able to donate toward this emergency vet bill, it would mean the world to us and to the dogs we’re here to help. Every dollar helps us continue doing this work in communities that truly need it.
Thank you for always showing up for these animals. ❤️🐾
