The famous White Raven took Anchorage by storm. The unique coloration caught the attention of birders and non-birders alike and gave us a new appreciation for ravens. Join us on Thursday, June 6th, to dive into the world of ravens and other Alaskan members of the Corvid family, including crows and magpies. Ornithologist and Ph.D. candidate in Indigenous Studies Lisa Pajot will introduce you to the intricate lives of these birds and delve into the mystery of the white raven. Lisa will also share stories from Alaska's Indigenous cultures that illustrate Indigenous Peoples' respect and understanding of ravens and their relations. Bird TLC's Education and Behavior Curator will discuss the challenges and gratification of training two mischief-makers: Girdie, a Northwestern Crow, and Shavila, a Black-billed Magpie. You'll also get the chance to meet these Bird TLC Ambassador Birds. Photographer Glen Klinkhart will share his photos of the white raven and talk about his experience of photographing him. There will also be a silent auction featuring local photographers' photographs of the white raven.
