Witch Hunt's 5 Year Anniversary

October 2025 marks 5 years of Witch Hunt creating immersive, site-specific, horror theatre! We aim to raise $5,000 to celebrate our 5th year; there is a lot to be proud of.

Since 2020, we have performed a dozen productions including 10 original works, hired over 20 artists, and engaged hundreds of audience members. Over the past 5 years, we have performed in the woods, on a farm, in a barn, in a house, around a dining room table, in a conference room, at horror festivals and conventions, and much more. We look forward to continuing to push the boundaries of theatre in the next 5 years.

Although we started in Portland, Oregon, I recently completed my MFA in Directing at Boston University, so Witch Hunt moved to the East Coast with me (along with 2 of our founding ensemble members and our technical director). Our first production in Boston was Seance, a theatrical event in which 12 strangers try to summon spirits together around a table. Recently, we performed an immersive production of Bug by Tracy Letts in a 1-bedroom apartment, which really put us on the map in Boston. Here are some of my favorite audience responses from Bug:

  • "My partner and I were legit speechless for like 15 minutes in the car, we had a great time!"
  • "The use of the space was phenomenal."
  • "One of the most creative and visceral pieces of theatre I've seen all year!!!"
  • "No one else is doing site-specific theatre like this."
  • "I ADORED BUG! It was one of the best things I have EVER SEEN."

Most recently, we closed the world premiere of HER RITES at the United Parish Church in Brookline, MA, just outside of Boston. This production tackled the complexities of power & leadership, the responsibility of religious institutions in shaping our morality, and the increasingly relevant issue of reproductive rights. We had over 200 audience members attend HER RITES! We hope to keep increasing our reach in the Boston area and beyond as we move forward.

In addition to pushing theatrical boundaries, Witch Hunt seeks to redefine the structures and hierarchies embedded into the American theater system. This includes making every effort to pay our artists fairly for their work. When you donate to Witch Hunt Theatre, your money supports:

  • FIRST AND FOREMOST: Paying artists fairly for their work to inspire, to inform, to shock, to wow, to interrogate, to open minds, to pour their hearts into their work, to change lives, and to entertain you!
  • Space rentals - as a company that does site-specific work, this is our biggest expense after wages
  • Workshops, script development, and rights - almost all of our works are original. Creating a new play takes a lot of time and resources.
  • Props, costumes, make-up, and stage effects - fake blood doesn't grow on trees ;)
  • Ticket Accessibility - under our current business model, we rely heavily on ticket sales to fund our organization. Our goal is to have enough funding to offer free and reduced tickets to those with financial need.

We were recently approved as a 501(c)3 charitable organization. This means that all donations you make to Witch Hunt Theatre are now tax-deductible!

Thank you for your generosity in helping us to create meaningful art in this turbulent world.
