My name is AJ Dean. I use they/them pronouns. For the past three years, I have worked at 1000 Faces Coffee in Athens, Georgia. On March 25th, I tore my ACL. Since the injury, I have been unable to work leaving me without income to cover my bills, rent, and now medical bills. Being in my 20's and uninsured like most people I know, this is a fear come true. After a lot of waiting, seeing a doctor, and getting sent for an MRI, on April 20th I was told that I did tear my ACL. This will require surgery and physical therapy for several months. I am expected to be out of work for four-six months, but for now, I am most concerned with my current bills, rent, and the piling medical costs.
