It's a She Thing, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to turning life's trials into triumphs for women and girls. Founded by mother-daughter duo Veronica Loomis and Mikayla Barnett, It's a She Thing has reached hundreds of women and girls in New York and beyond through our monthly She Talks, community outreach, and annual Empowerment Camp for Girls. Both our SheMatters Resource Fund and COVID-19 Relief Fund have helped countless families overcome financial hurdles, and our Willie Mae Loomis Scholarship has celebrated the academic excellence of high school and college graduates in our community. We have recently begun a subsidized grocery program for women and children in need and it's already made a great impact for families. Our proudest accomplishment is the opening of the Willie Mae Loomis Residence, Inc., a transitional home for displaced women and children in memory of our mother and grandmother, Willie Mae Loomis. We expect to open its doors in late Fall 2021/early Spring 2022.
