URGENT: Support South Sudanese Nationals Affected by the U.S. Visa Ban

UPDATE: The U.S. visa ban on South Sudanese nationals just got even more complicated.
Following the revocation of all visas for South Sudanese passport holders, South Sudan has taken a small step toward easing tensions by agreeing to accept a previously denied deportee. But the broader crisis remains.

Despite claims from the South Sudanese government that the U.S. "overreacted" to a single case, this sweeping ban continues to impact thousands — students, families, workers, and even top athletes like Duke basketball star Khaman Maluach, a projected NBA pick.

Universities and legal teams across the country are now scrambling to assess and protect affected individuals. The U.S. has stated the ban may be lifted — but only if South Sudan fully cooperates moving forward.

In the meantime, countless South Sudanese people in the U.S. are stuck in legal limbo — facing deportation, visa uncertainty, and emotional and financial distress.
