Mending Hearts is an incredible non-profit that helps women restore their lives from addiction through a long-term program that offers hope and healing in a supportive community environment - regardless of their ability to pay. In their 18 years of existence, Mending Hearts has never turned a woman away for her inability to pay. I have been involved with Mending Hearts for 7 years, both as a volunteer and now as Board Chair. I have seen firsthand that it's a place that truly changes womens' lives. The typical client comes in after years of substance abuse, and most have lost everything - their kids, their jobs, their homes, and their self-worth.
Almost every woman who comes through our doors has suffered some sort of trauma in their life - sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect or abandonment, death of a close loved one, emotional abuse, or sex trafficking. They used drugs to self-medicate their pain. Mending Hearts helps them put their lives back together by giving them a home surrounded by other women walking the same path to sobriety while they are learning through various individual and group therapies to deal with the underlying emotional issues that led to their addiction.
I am asking my friends to please join me in supporting this fantastic gift of giving these women their lives back from addiction. The Mending Hearts staff are truly doing God's work with these women who would never be able to afford substance treatment without the generosity of donors like you.
