Ms. Emily - Garden Science Teacher. "I knew I made a connection when a student told me they used our method to plant seeds at home with their grandmother. It is a privilege to facilitate their engagement in learning about our beautiful planet."

Ms. Xu - Assistant Principal (partially funded by WPPC). "When I moved here from Beijing at age 4, I was really shy. I think I would have benefitted from how we—teachers, staff and parents—at West Portal really collaborate and look out for kids’ well-being and sense of belonging."

Ms. Bonnie - English Language Development Paraprofessional. "Teaching ELD is like building a language rollercoaster — there are twists, turns, and a few wild loops, but every ‘oops’ is part of the ride. We try, we laugh, and somehow, we all get better at English together!"

Because of your generosity, we are able to host beloved events for each and every student such as Pumpkin Patch, Lunar New Year Festival, Maker Playground Science Fair and much more.

We also support field trips, classroom supplies, our amazing Chinese Performing Arts Program (CPAP) and the annual Spring Musical. Above all, we strive to create a fun and safe environment for our kids.
