In honor of Charlie Landers and the Charlie Landers foundation, I, Jake Long, and my classmate, Connor Kerin, have set up a relay marathon team with other students from our school, Don Bosco Prep. We are running on April 21st, 2023. The event is the 2023 CUIMC Team Relay Marathon hosted by The Armory in New York City.

An athlete, a teammate, a student, a friend, a son, a brother, a hero. Charlie Landers fought for over two years with a rare form of cancer called Ewing Sarcoma. This form of cancer is usually found in children ages 10-20. It is so rare that doctors treat it the same as they would have in 1970, there have been no advancements because of the very small number of cases. In March of 2022, Charlie left us with his final Instagram post, captioned, “Own the mound.” It seemed as if everyone in the state of New Jersey knew who he was and were all reacting to this post together. Everyone was eager to share their story about how they met him.

Everywhere I go, I see a CL7 shirt, car magnet, or logo reminding me of the lasting impressions that Charlie made.

It is an honor for me and this team to be able to be a part of his legacy.
