Did you know that 48 Million adults in the United States cannot read above a third grade level, which is reflected in Southwest Missouri's literacy stats. And 1 in 5 Americans read below the level needed to earn a living wage. In today's world, with inflation causing the cost of basic amenities like housing and food to rise, it's even more important to support programs which can boost the literacy level in our communities.

Here at the Ozarks Literacy Council, we do just that by offering programs including:

A Reading Resource Program (#bookit) which provides free books and classroom readers to elementary children in Springfield Public Schools and Wonder Years preschoolers.
A FREE Reading Tutoring Program which provides a dedicated tutor for learners who sign up.
Community events where we give out free books to children to help boost literacy in more ways in our community.
