Sponsoring a new Sea Cadet is only $500 and it helps a struggling family with all of the start-up fees including uniforms and their first training which is Recruit Training. Once they graduate RT, they can attend summer and winter trainings that peak their interests. Each training has a fee and travel costs. If you would like, you can continue to sponsor and follow the Cadet's progress in the program or you can sponsor another new cadet that needs a little extra help to get started. Every August we get all units across the Region together for a fun Family Day! The Navy League rents the facilities of the St. Mary Christian Center in Tampa so the Cadets can swim in the pool, kayak on the lake, and we provide lunch for everyone. It's a total of around 200 people and the cost is usually around $5k each year. We use the opportunity to have the Cadets tell everyone what trainings they went to and what stories they would like to share. The parents and Cadets learn from each other, and the camaraderie means a lot to them.
