El por qué:

Compartir información, recursos y educación gratuitos que mejoren la vida y la salud reproductiva de las comunidades de color, negras, indígenas, y latinas en Arizona.

Las comunidades de color en Arizona, especialmente las poblaciones negras e indígenas, sienten los peores resultados de salud, según este informe del Departamento de Salud de Arizona publicado en 2021.

Por lo tanto, las organizaciones lideradas por BIPOC ayudan y abogan con recursos e información confiables y accesibles para estas comunidades de color altamente afectadas.

Desert Star Institute for Family Planning is a Black Woman founded and led 501c3 organization working to advance Reproductive Justice in Arizona and beyond.

Our work is rooted in 3 main priorities:

1. Train the next generation of abortion providers within the Reproductive Justice framework that focuses on the whole person, providing a unique understanding of the barriers historically marginalized people may encounter in medical communities where they've felt excluded.

2. Deliver educational content and programs that help people from historically marginalized communities access reproductive health care and exercise autonomy over their bodies and lives.

3. Engage, build relationships, and mobilize local policy makers, advocates, and community members directly impacted by harmful policies towards and Arizona that provides the conditions for people to freely decide when and how to form families and raise children.

We envision a world where access to the full range of just, dignified, and exceptional reproductive health care is available to people who can become pregnant regardless of circumstance or zip code, and is provided by compassionate health care professionals who also advocate for reproductive health and justice in their communities.
