Celebrating Miss Doris' 90th Birthday

Miss Doris is not only our longest serving volunteer, she's also celebrating her 90th birthday this month. She's raising money for the rescue at her birthday party and we thought we'd extend the party to our best supporters! 

Doris started fostering after she quit working full time. She worked with our founder, Tania Dodson, at No More Homeless Pets and DivaPets was born when that organization changed. When Diva was formed, we worked with HSGKC and our adoption partner, the Shawnee Mission PetSmart. Doris noted that her first foster license expired in 2013. 

A cat lover her whole life, she'd always adopted from rescues and was excited to join the ranks of fosters. She says she probably would have started fostering earlier, but earning a living got in the way. Tania introduced her to her soul cat Annie who she loved until the end of her life. Doris still talks about Annie. We all get that soul cat thing. 

One of the things Doris likes best about volunteering for DivaPets is the fantastic people she works with, becomes friends with, and the circle of friends those relationships have made. Through her fellow volunteers, she's become involved with a local cactus/succulent club and a group of wool spinners and weavers which are both passions of hers. Not to mention getting to love on kittens whenever she wants. 

Miss Doris, as I call her, to honor her wisdom and experience, is a vital member of our rescue. Help us celebrate her 90th birthday by supporting a cause she loves and gives to with all her heart.
