The driving force of this mission is prayer
The Monastery of the Holy Martyrs and Orthodox Workers know and believe in the power of prayer. That is why we are always asking you to pray for all those we serve and all those doing the serving.

We know that you can ask God to move that mountain and He will, it's just that to do that, God usually hands you the shovel and tells you it is time to get your hands dirty. But He does not walk away. He stands right beside you coaching you and encouraging you and giving you strength. He does move that mountain and you are the vehicle He uses to do the digging.

And those we serve are also praying. Their prayers are those of thanksgiving for what you are doing. And many like the monastery remember each person who has told us that they are praying for us and each one who has sent a gift or donation. And when we celebrate prayer services in homeless encampments and in vacant lots or street corners, someone always calls out two or three, or four new names of someone who has helped this past week.

And they also join us when we need support like we do today. Talk about great prayer warriors, I know many who live on the streets and whom Christ sits beside all day and all night watching over them.

When we need something, when we need help, when they need help, all of us do as my mother and father taught me as I was growing up. Let the Holy Spirit fill your heart and let your prayers raise as incense to Heaven.

All of us are praying long and praying hard, praying unceasingly because your help is needed even more during this holiday season. Your gift is needed.
