Update #3 (7/23/20)
Once again, we’d like to thank everyone for their love, support and extremely generous donations! We are so grateful to have such wonderful people in our lives! All your calls and messages have really made this not so great time, the slightest bit easier!
Ian has completed round 2 of chemo and is doing great! While home for a few weeks, in between rounds, he continues to get regular check ups to make sure his levels are where they need to be! He’s been enjoying spending time with family and friends and is looking forward to having baseball and basketball back on TV!
While he’s doing an awesome job kicking cancer goodbye, he still has a long road ahead! So please keep routing him on as he gears up for round 3!
Update #2 (7/4/20)
Over the last few weeks Ian’s received 13 blood transfusions/16 platelet transfusions and he will continue to need these for the duration of his treatment. Due to the recent pandemic, the community’s blood supply has been severely drained. In support of Ian and all those in need, we had planned for one blood drive but the response was so overwhelming that we had to create a 2nd blood drive! The blood drives were a huge success on June 27th and June 30th with a huge thanks to the Cheesequake Volunteer Fire Department for hosting and for Robert Wood Johnson Blood Services for running the drive. We are so humbled and grateful for all those who reached out and showed their love and support.
Update #1 (6/30/20)
We would like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who has reached out, donated, shared this page and sent their well wishes! Your love and support is SO appreciated.
After 5 long weeks in the hospital, Ian was finally able to come home on June 14th! It’s been awesome for him to spend time with his family, friends but most importantly his own bed ;) While this isn’t the summer Ian was hoping for, especially with his favorite shore bars not open for business, he is making the best of it in between his hospital stays. As he gets ready to start his second round of chemo this coming week, please continue sending all the love and well wishes his way!
The McIntyre’s and Alyssa :)
About this fundraiser (6/15/20)
If you’re reading this it’s probably because you’ve played a sport, shared a Bud Light (or 2 or 3), attended a Giant’s game together or simply are lucky enough to know Ian! However you know him or someone close to him, we’re glad you’re here!
As if this year wasn’t already off to a crazy start, Ian started to feel fatigued, out of breath and had ongoing headaches for weeks. After finally being able to visit with a doctor in person, he was immediately admitted to the ER. The following day, on May 13th 2020, Ian was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). This came as a shock to him and everyone around him. How could a 30 year-old stud like himself suddenly need numerous blood and platelet transfusions, bone marrow biopsies and multiple rounds of chemotherapy?
While the prognosis is positive, Ian will need months of medical treatment and his medical bills are already starting to add up, which is why we created this page for donations. If you are able to donate, we would greatly appreciate it and no donation is too small! We understand these are tough times for so many, so you can also show some love by sharing this page with your friends and family. Well wishes and positive thoughts are needed too! We can’t wait to have Ian back visiting breweries, attending concerts, and cheering to good health!
Please note that all donations made are considered gifts and do not qualify as deductible charitable contributions.
I'm new to Givebutter how do I donate?
For those of you new to Givebutter donations are more than just a name and a dollar amount like that of GoFundMe. It focuses on transparency and personalization.
After you have clicked on Donate at the top of the page, you have the option to edit your donation with your name and a message. You can also upload a picture, make a drawing, search for a gif to add, or leave your facebook profile picture.
When selecting an amount to donate it will show the amount you selected and the amount of fees related to the donation. Fundraising pages like GoFundMe and Givebutter don't take any fees themselves but have to pay processing fees on any transactions which takes away from the donation amount received. You will have the option to pay a little more so that you can cover the fees related to the donation. You don't have to but it would be much appreciated. Also when donating you have the option to hide your name and the dollar amount. You will then have the ability to pay by card, Venmo, or PayPal.
If you have any questions or would like to donate separately please email me at [email protected]
