Barbeton Middle School's What If 101 Pilot Event will culminate and celebrate weeks of community research and student-led idea creation. During Pilot Day, small teams of students pitch their ideas and collaborate on their ideas with local community leaders and supportive adults (like you!). The goal of the What If 101 Pilot Event is to create space for middle schoolers to share their ideas with supportive adults so they can get helpful feedback and advice through collaborative conversations.

What does a Pilot Day look like?

What If 101 Pilot Events typically include 5 teams of students rotating through 5 groups of community guests in about an hour. During each rotation, student teams will pitch their ideas, demonstrate their prototypes, and then lead structured feedback activities with community guests to discover ways to make their idea better or gain advice on how to continue their idea. As a community guest, Pilot Events feel like an inspiring science fair combined with a fun speed networking event. For middle school students, Pilot Events are a truly empowering learning experience that show them their ideas matter to the community!
