Ann Renn's Story

Just over a year ago, I found myself in a vibrant community. I was at the helm of the La Crosse Area YMCA Community Youth Center as its director. It was more than just a job for me; it became a mission that ignited a deep passion. The center is a hub of diverse backgrounds, laughter, learning, and growth, where young people gather, forge friendships, and discover their potential. I witnessed transformations. I saw countless stories unfold—youth discovering their strength, teenagers mentoring younger youth, and unexpected friendships blossoming. The Community Youth Center is a safe haven where dreams can flourish, and I quickly realized how crucial it was to so many young people. However, sustaining such a vibrant community space requires resources. My passion for raising money for the Youth Center stems from witnessing the profound impact it has on the lives of young people. It isn't just about financial support; it's about investing in dreams, building confidence, and nurturing the next generation of leaders. Every time I saw a youth light up with excitement as they headed to the "big" Y to swim, play handball, or enjoy ESports, I was reminded of what a critical role this space plays. Now, as I move forward from my role as director, I carry that passion with me. I continue to advocate for the Youth Center, rallying the community around this cause. I share stories of transformation and resilience, reminding everyone that when we invest in our youth, we invest in a better tomorrow. Y Giving Day is not just an event; it’s a celebration of hope, a gathering of hearts united for a common purpose. That’s why I am passionate about supporting the Youth Center—it’s more than a place; it’s a life-changing journey for every young person who walks through its doors.
