For my grandfather gardened all of his life. It was his therapy from working as a judge, you have to dig into the dirt, pull away the weeds and see the potential future in both tasks. Not only did growing food and tending his garden provide an outlet for him, it was also a way to connect to and create lasting memories with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I may never tolerate, stomach, or enjoy store bought tomatoes, corn, beets and peaches because of him! One of his last wishes was to savor a meal of his homegrown beets, tomatoes, corn and peaches, saying "this is a good season, so now I may rest."

Making a donation in honor of my college academic advisor, who introduced me to the world of sustainable food and agriculture. Exploring these interests academically eventually led me to organic gardening and helped me land at my first internship at a little nonprofit in Moab...
