Our Story: Y'all Rock Carbondale started in 2014 as a way to offer young girls a way to express themselves through songwriting, musicianship, and camaraderie with other women and folks experiencing gender marginalization. Now in our tenth year we offer a one-week summer camp for girls, trans, and gender non-conforming youth and a hybrid program/fundraiser Rock Roulette for women, trans, and gender non-conforming adults.

We aim to uplift marginalized voices and create allies in our community to create equitable space for all musicians.

The Impact: Your gift goes directly into creating hands-on experiences in music that teach youth the power of self-confidence, self-expression, allyship, and using your voice to create disruptive, lasting change in our community.

Our summer camp is volunteer staffed by musicians, academics, and artists from our community. Campers experience small group instrument instruction, band practice sessions, workshops in arts, community empowerment, and self-esteem. We also provide locally-sourced, homegrown breakfast and lunch. Campers need zero musical experience. We provide instruments, instruction, and fun.

YRC summer camp is funded through community monetary and equipment donations. We will not turn any camper away for lack of funds and offer a sliding scale payment options. Our goal is to make sure that our programming remains accessible to youth all over Carbondale and our neighboring communities. This is where you come in. Help us keep music accessible to all youth.

What is Rock Roulette?

Y'all Rock Carbondale's annual fundraiser, Rock Roulette, is the adult version of YRC's youth summer camp. Women, trans, gender non-conforming adults are separated into bands and have six weeks to learn new instruments, write three songs, and fundraise for Y'all Rock Carbondale.

Described at "Hottest Musical Experience in Town", it's also Y'all Rock Carbondale's biggest and most important fundraiser of the year. While you give your hard-earned coin, Rock Rouletters are working hard and writing freshest rock ‘n’ roll songs you've ever heard. On March 9, they take the stage at Hangar 9 and show us what they've been working on. One band will win an award for most funds raised.
