Expanding Food Access
This year, we are focusing our spring fundraising efforts for the Purpose Grown Project on reaching a new neighborhood! We are hoping to raise $11,000 dollars to support a request for assistance from Madison's Warner Park Community Recreation Center (WPCRC).
As part of their programming, WPCRC provides afterschool meals, meals during their summer school, and community meals for the homeless. Prior forms of assistance for the food in these programs has gone away, and so WPCRC reached out to Crossroads and asked for our helping providing fresh, organic produce for these vital programs.
Help us say YES to this new request from our community by donating! Dollars raised will go DIRECTLY to providing veggie meals to kids and fresh veggies for community meals.
____________
As many of you know, Crossroads Community Farm does something innovative with our food - we purposefully grow high quality, organic vegetables to give away to those facing hunger. Our business does this in partnership with existing organizations in Madison who have established relationships distributing food to the communities who need it most. We call this the Purpose Grown Project.
As federal assistance for the food emergency system is drying up, pantries and community centers are now contacting Crossroads directly and asking for help.
So far this winter and spring, we have already raised a whopping $114,000 from our community - more than doubling what we raised last season. (Thank you to our customers, local businesses, major donors, and local grants for their generosity!) The additional dollars we've already raised this year have allowed us to increase our existing support to pantries AND to add on new relationships with other pantries, like Allied Food Pantry.
Now we are hoping to add Warner Park Community Recreation Center and meet their request for assistance!
Will you help us raise the final $11,000?
