About Big Paws of the Ozarks

Big Paws of the Ozarks is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing at-risk dogs and providing them with the second chance they deserve. Their mission is to save dogs facing neglect, homelessness, or life-threatening situations, and to place them in loving, permanent homes.

They focus on the most vulnerable cases—those with medical needs, behavioral challenges, or at risk of euthanasia—ensuring every dog has a chance to thrive.

Their Impact

Since their founding, Big Paws has saved thousands of dogs across Northwest Arkansas, giving each one the care, rehabilitation, and support they need to heal and find a forever home. In 2024 alone, they've rescued over 470 dogs, including urgent medical cases, dogs abandoned in rural areas, and pets surrendered to overburdened shelters. Every dog’s story is different, but each one shows the power of compassion and community.

Mission Moments

• Gumbo's Story: Gumbo, a deaf dog who was losing hope in a shelter, was rescued and rehabilitated through their foster program. Today, he’s adopted and living his best life with a family who loves him unconditionally.
• Junie B and Her Siblings: Rescued just in time from a county shelter, these seven pups came in scared and reactive. Thanks to their specialized foster network, they received the love and care they needed to thrive, and all found new, loving homes.
