The Janiverse keeps orbiting because a courageous young man decided to register to be a donor. He didn't know he would not only save my life, but give me a life I had dreamt of since I was a little girl. I had suffered from Type 1 Diabetes since I was 8 years old, and after complex complications from T1D that God and Healthcare brought me through, like wounds that wouldn't heal, severe neuropathy in my limbs, major eye surgeries, PICC lines, infections, threat of losing a foot... then I went into kidney failure. However, because of my courageous donor and his family, I became a double-organ transplant recipient, receiving a kidney and a pancreas. I now have a functioning kidney AND a pancreas that produces insulin, which means as long as these miraculous organs continue to work, I am cured of an incurable disease. Transplantation is why I am alive and I am grateful for every single day that I can live and contribute to this wonderful life!
