William was born in renal failure, by a few weeks old he had corrective surgery, blood transfusions, more blood draws than we could count and had more doctors on his team than I had seen in my entire life. And so began our journey with chronic kidney disease (CKD)!
“I always had a lot of doctor’s appointments; I never knew what the doctors and my parents were talking about. All I knew was that I took a bunch of medicine and missed a lot of school. I would never get an attendance award. Then, very suddenly, one day my parents said, “William, you are going to have to have a kidney transplant, your name is on the transplant list”. For William, the kidney transplant came with a list of “No’s”. No more basketball team, no more football team, but the kidney transplant was a life-giving miracle for both William and our entire family! William's future is bright, and full of opportunities and possibilities! He may never join a football or basketball team but with your support, he can join TEAM Alabama and participate in the 2024 Transplant Games!
