Zaman International is a nonprofit organization located in Inkster, MI that serves single mothers and recent refugee and immigrant families living in Southeast Michigan. The organization’s primary services fall into two categories: basic needs and workforce development. Basic needs services include case management and assistance in the forms of food, clothing, essential home goods, medical and mental health services, and financial assistance to prevent eviction or utility shutoff. Workforce development programs include entrepreneurship training; vocational training in garment sewing, industrial sewing, and culinary arts; and instruction in ESL literacy, citizenship, pre-GED, and career development. Zaman also provides students with career navigation services and apprenticeship and onsite employment opportunities.

In addition to its core programming, Zaman’s Plots for Tots initiative provides families in need who have lost an infant or toddler with burial services. Beyond its local programs, Zaman has provided relief and humanitarian aid in 26 countries around the world, spanning well-building projects, support for orphans, and relief in the form of medical care, food, and essential supplies for communities facing stark humanitarian crises.
